The Cóndores lagoon is approximately 1 km² long and is located in the department of San Martín in northern Peru. It is located at an altitude of 2600 m s. n. m., 93 km from the province of Chachapoyas, department of Amazonas and a day's walk (45 km from the town of Leimebamba).
It is also called "Lagoon of the mummies" because of the different mausoleums around it. The more than 200 recovered mummies have been identified as belonging to the Chachapoyas culture, and are currently exhibited in the Leymebamba Museum.
